Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Commissioning Team within the Families and Children directorate. This role focuses on post-16 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities with the postholder taking the lead in this area of commissioning activity.

Wiltshire’s SEND and Inclusion Strategy describes its intention to ensure that all young people with SEND have access to the learning settings which best meet their SEND needs and that the transition between phases of education is well supported.

**About the role**

The post holder will develop and engage in effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including local delivery partners, Independent Specialist Providers, and families and young people, to ensure a clear understanding and oversight is in place for learners with SEND requiring educational provision and support post 16.

They will also work closely with colleagues in the SEND 0-25 service to ensure there is strong communication and partnership working. The voice of young people and their families in Wiltshire, will inform commissioning activity, and support the culture of co-production and collaborative working.

The post holder will also take a lead in monitoring the effectiveness of service delivery, including working with schools and other education settings, to ensure that value for money is achieved. This will include responsibility for effective delivery against SLAs and other plans for specific contracts, projects, or areas of focus within this area.

There will be opportunities for the post holder to participate in key development projects or initiatives that contribute to the performance improvement of the council, region, or nationally in this area.

**About You**

You will have significant experience working within a commissioning function, and be able to demonstrate expert knowledge of relevant policies, practices, and systems. You will be an excellent communicator and able to share information in written reports and in presentations to stakeholders and relevant boards within the council.

You will have experience in leading more than one project at a time, across a commissioning portfolio, and will be skilled in working alongside other teams; sharing knowledge, skills, and expertise.

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively with providers to develop and deliver services for users in relevant specialist areas of commissioning.
