**About the role**
We’re searching for a* Support Officer* to join our friendly and hard-working team at A2Dominion.
Bramlings House is a supported housing scheme for vulnerable young people, including young parents. There are support staff available 24 hours a day. We have 12 single end-suite rooms, which share a lounge and kitchen, and 13 self-contained 1-bedroom apartments. Eight of these are reserved for young parents.
In this role, you will identify and deliver flexible housing related support to service users to enable them to develop independent skills in order to move on to their own accommodation.
**Key responsibilities**:

- Assess all new tenants and allocate beds according to procedures
- Provide information and advice to service users in order to assist them in establishing and maintaining their tenancy,
- Ensure room checks and housekeeping void procedures are followed and that voids are kept to a minimum
- Carry out risk assessments as necessary, liaising with other agencies where appropriate
- Promote user participation by providing information and advice choices to enable residents to participate more fully in decisions relating to them
- Carry out designated H&S checks and facilities management of the building and liaise with internal departments
- This role will require working alone more often than not so discipline and self-motivation is key.

**More about you**:
You won’t necessarily have experience in this sector, as we recognise that transferrable skills and experience are just as valuable.
For example, you may:

- Have experience of working in a customer-facing role as a supervisor / manager.
- Have experience of motivating people who have complex and diverse issues including alcohol or substance misuse, mental health trauma and/or behavioural challenges.
- Have an awareness of Universal Credit and Housing Benefit, as well as voluntary and statutory support agencies.
- Have the ability to work under own initiative
- Have knowledge of child protection requirements and reporting safeguarding concerns
- Have experience of coaching, motivating and performance managing teams.
- Have the skills to identify and manage risk, supporting others to do the same.
- Have a working knowledge of safeguarding measures and processes.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have exceptional administration and IT skills - especially Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) including the collection and presentation of data.
- You will need to have a ‘can-do’ attitude, at times rolling up your sleeves to help your team to get stuff done. No two days are the same in supported housing, and flexibility is the key
- You must have a full driving licence, together with a car available and insured for business purposes. Where you need to use this for business travel, mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.
- You should be able and willing to work flexibly across similar Care & Support services (transport costs reimbursed) in support of colleagues elsewhere - remember, this works both ways
