**Job Purpose**
To contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by undertaking a range of teaching, assessment, administrative and supervision duties on the Summer Pre-sessional Programme, as requested by the Programme Director and EAP Manager, in order to contribute to learning and teaching objectives in the School of Modern Languages & Cultures.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Contribute to the planning, organisation, delivery and supervision of Pre-sessional English Teaching.
2. Deliver a range of teaching, supervision and assessment activities within English for Academic Study.
3. Carry out course administration within required timescales ensuring effective
communication of information, in particular assessment requirements and criteria and timely and constructive feedback on assessment.
4. Contribute to the on-going development and design of the curriculum in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning and assessment in the discipline and/or profession.
5. Make effective use of learning technologies to support and enhance course delivery, course organisation, feedback and assessment. This may involve blended and/or online provision.
6. Ensure an inclusive and evidence-based approach to facilitating learning in a range of face to face and potentially online delivery formats such as tutorials, lectures, problem based learning, that promotes student participation and learning outcome attainment.
7. Ensure that teaching and assessment activities are underpinned by rigorous, educationally relevant, enquiries into student learning and disseminate evidence to enhance your own, and potentially others’, teaching practices. Attend and participate in appropriate seminars and conferences to support research-led teaching, scholarship and/or professional practice in EAP.
8. Develop effective working relationships with students and, in partnership with relevant student services teams, respond appropriately to the diverse range of learning approaches and learner needs.
9. Develop relationships with external stakeholders in support of knowledge exchange, public understanding and appropriate forms of outreach such as widening access.
10. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
11. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
12. To contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
A1 Honours degree in relevant area.
A2 Masters in TESOL, Applied Linguistics or equivalent OR postgraduate-level qualification in Teaching English for Academic Purposes PLUS recognised entry level teaching certificate [e.g. CELTA],
OR postgraduate Diploma [e.g. Cambridge ESOL DELTA, Trinity College Diploma in TESOL].

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

**Essential**
C1 Sufficient specialist theoretical and practical knowledge and experience of teaching methods and techniques in EAP. C2 Sufficient breadth of experience of Teaching English for Academic Purposes or relevant.
C3 Digitally literate and familiar with using VLE (e.g. Moodle) and MS Word for administration and assessment processes.
C4 Ability to communicate material of a specialist or highly technical nature and to be effective both orally and in writing at a level appropriate to the activity.
-C7 Ability to accept collegiate responsibilities and act accordingly.
C8 Relevant administrative experience (e.g. student support, course administration, etc.).
C9 Up-to-date knowledge and specialist understanding in the field with an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students to inspire learning and to provide pastoral care to
C10 Relevant experience in supervision of teaching (e.g. leading a small teaching team(, mentoring or leadership roles.

**Please note, the Summer Pre-sessional Programme will be delivered exclusively face-to-face at the University of Glasgow campus. Applicants will be required to be available for on-campus work in Glasgow for the duration of the appointment and must have the required Right to Work in UK permissions.**

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 6/7, £32,332 - £36,024 / £39,347 - £44,263 per annum.
This post is full time and fixed term.
