If so, Dorset Council is seeking a Resettlement Support Officer to work with our customers onsite in West View, Blandford as part of a two year project.

Whilst you will be expected to work predominantly from West View, Blandford you may also be asked to work across the county on occasion support our other Resettlement officers.

**What you can expect to be doing**:
Dorset Council have renovated an empty unit of accommodation in the Blandford, North Dorset area to provide 6 bedrooms to those needing temporary accommodation. This role will provide onsite support to assist residents to access and sustain accommodation and support services, build local pathways and processes for residents, and help resettle clients into permanent accommodation in the private or social rented sector. You will ensure they are tenancy ready and able to sustain both the temporary accommodation and move into permanent accommodation.

This role will assertively reduce the number of clients in temporary accommodation. This will also improve the dignity, life chances, health and wellbeing of vulnerable people who have been homeless and are being resettled into permanent housing.

**About you**:
Do you have experience working with people in difficult circumstances?

We need applicants who can be sensitive to difficult situations whilst having the ability to negotiate and investigate individual client circumstances. There will be occasions when you may need to provide challenging advice to clients in stressful circumstances.

Are you able to learn new skills?

Our successful applicants will need to demonstrate their ability to learn new skills and legislation and work with clients with complex needs and issues.

Applicants will need to be computer literate, and have a flexible, organised approach to their work to cope with a challenging and varied case load.

Do you develop positive and professional relationships?

We need people who can work in partnership with other agencies to assist and support our clients. The successful applicants will need to maintain and develop professional relationships with colleagues, landlords and a wide range of agencies.

Are you customer focused with good communication skills?

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
