The post holder will competently schedule appointments for patients in support of their pathway. These appointments will be made in accordance with Government and contractual targets, as well as clinical priority.

The post will demonstrate an ability to prioritise their workload giving attention to detail at all times. Conduct should be exemplary at all times justifying public trust and confidence upholding and enhancing the good standing of patient care within the Treatment Centre.

Main duties of the job

This is a unique opportunity to work within Gateway G Day case based in the Ambulatory Care Division at Nottingham University Hospitals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialty for 2 Band 2 Receptionists.

You will work closely with all members of bookings team contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce.

You will be working on internal rotation shift pattern. The hours will be from 7am - 8pm Monday to Friday but will also include occasional weekends on a rota basis.

Working for our organisation

Gateway G is the Daycase department where we carry out routine operations for patients whether this is a Daycase surgery or overnight stay, as well as their pre-assessment and also skin surgery. You will work closely with all members of the nursing team including our pre-assessment nurses and also the ward nurses liaising with the band 6 team as and when necessary, contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce. You will work alongside other gateway receptionists and the rest of our admin team to provide a friendly, efficient service for patients.
We have a team of 4 receptionists, plus a senior gateway receptionist, and then we have 4 Waiting list coordinators managed by our Deputy service manager, we then have a Service Manager who manages the whole team.

Print theatre lists from Bluespier in advance of theatre date and, using Medway PAS.
Greet patients at reception, check their personal details are correct, and if necessary amend in Medway PAS accordingly, ensuring patient confidentiality.
Admit patients using Medway PAS for theatre, and also discharging patients appropriately.
Send all notes from theatres to DHR for scanning on a daily basis.
Arrange transport as necessary.
Send follow ups to the relevant departments from theatre lists on bluespier.
Deal appropriately with enquiries from staff and the general public, seeking advice or referring elsewhere if necessary.
Ensure all theatre outcomes are recorded accurately on the day.

Keep personally updated and be able to advise patients in relation to peripheral services available, i.e. transport, interpreting services etc.
Notify Waiting list coordinators or designated person of any patients who fail to attend their appointment who will take necessary action in line with departmental and/or Trust policies.
Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times
