Background

The Executive Casework Unit oversees complex, often sensitive correspondence for senior leaders, including correspondence on behalf of the Chief Executive, Chair and ExCo. The team deals with correspondence from a range of external stakeholders, from consumers to ministers. The Executive Casework Unit works closely with other teams in the Communications division - especially the Public Affairs and Press Teams - to deliver clear and consistent messages to key external stakeholders.

The team is responsible for triaging, commissioning, coordinating and reviewing all MPs’ Letters and correspondence addressed to the FCA’s Senior Leadership Team. The role involves coordinating activity across the FCA’s consumer-facing communication channels and advising CEO and ExCo Offices on stakeholder engagement.

The Communications Division builds internal and external confidence in, and understanding of, the work of the FCA. The Division enables the use of communications as a regulatory tool, telling people what we do, how we do it, and why we do it, to prompt behavioural change and promote mutual understanding with the communities in which we work.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?- Commissioning and coordinating responses to correspondence addressed to the FCA’s Senior Leadership Team- Liaising with the Supervision Hub, Complaints Department, Information Disclosure Team and Whistleblowing Team to ensure coordinated and consistent approaches to external stakeholders- Advising senior colleagues on stakeholder engagement strategies- Providing CEO’s Office with regular overviews of incoming correspondence, including identifying trends and broader horizon scanning- Identifying and recording intelligence gained through letters with the division and relevant teams across the FCA- Working with senior leadership of the FCA to manage responses to sensitive and high-profile issues- Experience working across a diverse range of policy and regulatory topics- You will deal with a wide range of stakeholder, internal and external, while honing your communication skills

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?

Minimum- Strong written language and editorial skills- Experience of undertaking research into regulatory issues- Capable of delivering tasks in line with agreed processes

Essential- Ability to deliver tasks in a timely manner and ensure service standards are maintained- Excellent attention to detail when drafting responses- Able to develop strong relationships and networks across an organisation to ensure a joined-up approach and to deliver to strict deadlines- Experience in gathering of intelligence from multiple sources to identify risks and trends

Desirable- Familiarity with the FCA’s strategic priorities and regulatory challenges, along with its operational policies and procedures- Understanding of and / or experience in financial services

Useful Information

The FCA has a national role and is committed to a national footprint. This role can be based in London, Leeds and Edinburgh. The FCA has London and National Pay ranges to reflect regional differences.

London salary range is approximately £45,500 to £67,400

National salary range (including Edinburgh and Leeds) is approximately £42,500 to £63,000

In addition to your basic salary, you will receive an additional flexible allowance. Our competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your lifestyle. You can use this allowance to purchase additional benefits such as Critical illness cover, Travel insurance, Dental insurance or Cycle to work or you have the option to top up your base salary by taking this allowance as cash.

Core benefits that you will receive as standard are:
- Holiday entitlement of 25 days per year (plus Bank Holidays)- Private medical insurance cover for yourself- Life assurance of eight times of basic salary- Income protection of 50% of basic salary- Pension contributions of at least 8% of basic salary each month (there are several contribution levels that increase depending on your age - up to 12% a month once you reach age 35).
