A servomotor is generally an electrical motor which has some kind of electrical or electronic positional feedback attached to its rotor. The training will be in the non-engineering administrative tasks which surround servomotor repairs. You will be part of a small, effective and proud group of engineers.

**Description of business. Administrator position**
A servomotor is generally an electrical motor which has some kind of electrical or electronic positional feedback attached to its rotor. Modern servomotors tend to be brushless permanent magnet motors rather than the earlier brushed DC motors. Typical feedback devices are Hall effects, resolvers, tacho-generators and encoders.

**History**:
Quality Servomotor Repairs Ltd was set up in 2011 by an electronics engineer. The lab/workshop is based in a small unit in a converted têxtiles mill in Stockport. (Unit 26/C, First Floor, Vernon Mill, Mersey Street, Stockport. SK1 2HX). There are currently 5 engineers working in the small, busy engineering workshop.

Most of our customers are motor rewinders, automation engineers, industrial electronics companies, solutions administrators, etc. We also repair motors for end users from time to time.

It is vital that our repairs are extremely reliable and that there are no problems hidden from our customers which may cause them embarrassment with their own customers.

**Quality Servomotor Repairs approach**:
There are four inflexible characteristics of QSRL staff:

- Precision.
- Carefulness & thoroughness.
- Honesty.
- Willingness to learn and to develop new techniques.

A**dministration duties**:
Summary: to work alongside the servomotor engineers, reducing their administrative load. You will be issued with written procedures for critical/sensitive tasks and verbal instruction for less critical tasks.

**Routine duties include**:
Keeping office tidy and clean.

Checking progress of engineering jobs and updating customers with details and estimated completion date.

Booking in new jobs, printing delivery notes, booking couriers, sending invoices, etc.

Receiving parcels & letters.

Sourcing and ordering engineering parts: maintaining the list of favoured suppliers.

Maintaining stock levels of standard servomotor components.

Keeping quoted jobs ‘alive’ by reminding customers and asking if they would like the job to go ahead.

**Other duties include**:
Sending invoice summaries at end of month and reminding customers if they are not paid on-time.

Keeping job photos folder updated: each photo is re-named with the engineering job number.

Archiving old jobs into long term storage.

Organising scanned documents folder.

Keeping secure customer and staff records organised and up to date.

Scanning and filing motor record sheets.

**Training which the successful applicant will undergo**

It is assumed that the successful applicant may have little or no direct experience of administration within industry, although they will be expected to meet **all** six of the _**essential**_ person specifications.

Training process:
The trainee administrator will be provided with written step-by-step procedures for critical administrative tasks. Instruction in less critical tasks will generally be given verbally at appropriate times.

It is expected that three months will be sufficient to master all critical administration tasks given in the _Administrative tasks and procedures_ manual. This time is intended to be an training and acclimatisation period. The contract for this period is only for three months, but obviously our aim is to ensure that you are happy and competent enough to move onto a permanent contract. This three months is a very expensive period in both wages and training time and our desire would be to help you succeed.

Assuming that the three month probationary is successful, it is likely that you will continue to develop so that you can tackle various jobs with no supervision.

Your previous experience and, more importantly, your attitude, will affect these milestones.

**Person specifications**

**Essential characteristics**:
1. Must be able to organise items (whether documentation or engineering items) and keep them organised.

3. Must have polite, calm and efficient telephone manner. Most of our customers have English as a primary language, especially when dealing with business or technical matters.

5. Must have a methodical approach to problems.

6. Honesty, time-keeping, sickness, diligence. It is assumed that, at some point in your life, you may have been sick, been dismis
