City & Capital are currently representing a highly respected & fast growing lender of secured (2nd charge) mortgages who have retained our services with a view to appointing a confident, ambitious and hard-working Underwriter to their friendly team at anexciting time.

Once achieved you will undertake your own loan assessment to best understand the viability of the borrower and asset used as collateral for the loan You will make recommendations on loan funding and will work closely with Senior Underwriters on larger value,or complex cases.

**Duties of the role are likely to include (but may not be limited to)**:

- Carry out mortgage assessments to ensure all aspects of criteria have been met
- Maintain a pipeline of cases for underwriting from inception to completion
- Proactively chase and update brokers as to the statuses of loans and loan requirements
- Proactively chase and update professional stakeholders to achieve agreed SLAs
- Update CRM & lending platform to ensure loans are logged and processed
- Ensure that activity is in line with West One processes and appetite

Due to the above the ideal individual must have second/first charge mortgage or property finance underwriting experience and will have worked in such an environment that requires manual/commercial underwriting, as opposed to working with systems that delivera 'yes’ or 'no’ on loan decisioning, via automation.

Where this is quantified then the ideal individual will also be an excellent communicator, happy to liaise with brokers, borrowers and professional stakeholders to identify and understand information used to assess loans.

The environment can be both fast paced and dynamic and so individuals who thrive in this type of environment will be key. Often borrowers are working towards tight deadlines and SLA’s and as part of the role, you will be expected to achieve such deadlinesfor the best outcome for all parties.

**The ideal individual will**:

- Demonstrate a successful track record of underwriting mortgages or property finance loans manually and without automation
- Be comfortable in managing their own pipeline of cases to achieved hard deadlines
- Have an excellent attention to detail with strong numerical skills
- Be a confident communicator and influencer
- Thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Be ambitious and to grow within
- CeMAP is not required for this role

The basic salary for this role is set to be between £30k and £40k, relevant to experience. Higher offers may well be considered for exceptional experience and talent. This will be complemented by access to the lenders bonus and benefits scheme from day oneto boost annual earnings significantly.
