The post holder will develop a network of strong support to families with children/young people on the pre and post diagnostic pathway for neurodevelopmental assessment to offer continuity of support. The majority of children will present under the age of seven years however it is anticipated that any established therapeutic relationship will not be ended until the appropriate clinical point in the pathway. The post-holder will be responsible for reviewing clinical policies and guidelines relevant to the role and will participate as part of the multi-disciplinary team in supporting innovation and change in practice. The role will require liaising with other organisations and professionals to offer a streamlined service and promote excellent communication around the child. The post-holder will adopt a quality improvement approach to their work and will undertake audit and QI activity. They will offer supervision and training to other professionals as required by the role. The post holder will possess or be willing to develop an understanding of psychosocial interventions to include psycho-education of children with neuro-diversity including in the context of a mixed neurodevelopmental picture (specifically with comorbid Autism Spectrum Disorder). The post holder will be able to work with children and families to, support discharge planning through linking them to other supportive services.
- To understand the various components of the local offer and other available supporting services and draw on these services to support in the multidisciplinary management of children and young people referred for assessment of possible ADHD/ASD, and after diagnosis to discharge.
- Develop a high quality offer of care provision in the role ensuring it is consistent with statute, Trust policies and multiagency care pathways. To regularly evaluate the service provided by the role for children/young people whose lives are affected by ADHD/ASD, making changes to the delivery of care if needed
- To provide behavioural support, education and advice to children with ADHD /ASD and their families, carers, health and educational and local authority professionals.
- To work as part of the wider MDT with doctors, psychologists, pharmacists and others to continually improve and develop services for this cohort of children.
- To provide clinical leadership in ADHD/ASD to multiagency CYP teams in the community
- To develop strong links with groups of professionals in general practice and explore where there may be benefit in developing stronger links eg with social prescribers.

PROFESSIONAL
- To act as a role model and exercise exemplary standards of behaviour and accountability
- Provide professional leadership, advice and support in the area of the role, to CYP teams and act as a clinical expert in Neuro-developmental disorders
- To comply with the NMC Codes of Practice and Code of Professional Conduct/HCPC Scope of Practice and ensure NMC/HPC registration is kept up to date and current
- To maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance with NMC/HCPC and revalidation requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate standards of care
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions and courses as required.
- Participate in clinical and child protection supervision and appraisals as required
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records as defined in the record keeping policy
- Input onto the appropriate electronic record keeping data base daily and collect data as required. Identify and address any personal learning required to be able to use the systems effectively.
- Actively participate in research projects and carry out audits as required
- Work within the Clinical Governance framework of the Trust
- Undertake statutory and mandatory training as per Trust requirement
- Liaise with safeguarding professionals within the Trust, and Local Authority and to be able to formulate and write a robust safeguarding risk assessment if referral to children’s social care is indicated.
- Where appropriate, contribute to safeguarding meetings and case reviews occasionally.
- To act at all times in a manner that safeguards children and adults and is in line with Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s Safeguarding policies and guidelines.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
