The role of the Estates Maintenance Assistant is one of importance for the day-to-day operational support to the college. The applicant will be working across college, ensuring that all maintenance and facilities tasks are completed in a timely manner to ensure continuous curriculum activity. You will go from aiding staff with furniture moves to repairing doors handles and then helping with the setup of functions that the college run all through the year. No day is the same as the last Under the Estates Officer and Head of Estates, you will receive tasks on a daily basis and be expected to deliver them in a professional and effective manner.

To enable the applicant to be an effective member of the team you will require a positive attitude towards your working environment, including the ability to work within a small close-knit team. A willingness and drive for providing continuous improvement within the estates’ infrastructure is definitely what the team is looking for as well good communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ideally from an artisan trade background, you would have the ability to get things done with minor tasks around the college. You will be required to carrying out job specific computer-based training as well as CAFM system task requests and therefore an understanding of IT would be beneficial for the applicant. In addition to the interpersonal skills, ideally the applicant would bring trade related qualifications such as, C&G or NVQs, with them to the role.
