Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The post holder will be working as part of the Waiting List team, and will be required to effectively manage the surgical waiting list. The post holder will take responsibility for coordinating patient pathways and ensuring that the children under the care of the orthopaedic consultants receive their treatment within clinically appropriate timescales which are also in line with national referral to treatment (RTT) targets. The post-holder will therefore be required to work closely with Health Care professionals, managers, and administrative staff both within and outside the organisation, as well as patients and relatives.

Be responsible for scheduling patients for surgery in line with the Trust Elective Access Policy, in a way that elective capacity is maximised, and performance and activity targets are met. This will involve working closely with all staff in the service to ensure patients receive their treatment in clinically appropriate timescales which are (where possible) compliant with the 18-week referral to treatment (RTT) targets. The post-holder will be expected to intervene where necessary to expedite appointments and procedures to avoid delays and RTT breaches.

To be actively involved in reducing waiting lists/times, including regular validation of patient data, flagging potential breaches, and facilitating any waiting list initiatives/ad hoc theatre lists.

Ensure that any cancellations are managed in line with the relevant Trust policies and in a way that is compassionate and respectful of our patients and their needs.

Attend and prepare documents for directorate bed meetings and departmental meetings as required.

Monitor and collate inpatient booking data in compliance with national initiatives and information requests.

Monitor and report on service demand and capacity, escalating any issues to the clinical lead and management team.

Maintain a list of urgent cases to ensure patients receive treatment in clinically appropriate timescales, escalating any delays to the Consultant and management teams.

**Working for our organisation**:
The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family.
