**Purpose of the role**

Political Reporters at _PoliticsHome_ are responsible for providing our distinctive brand of impactful and original journalism. They need the ability to present online news in a distinctive and shareable fashion.

**Key responsibilities**
- Produce ground-breaking coverage of national politics in the form of news stories, features, and interviews.
- Break stories that have impact. Deliver agenda-setting scoops and produce smart, original journalism.
- Use social media to tell stories and lead the online conversation.
- Cover live events and breaking news.
- Embrace new and innovative ways to tell stories on the internet.
- Appear on other media to provide analysis as required.
- Due to the nature of the role, some weekend work will be likely.

**What we are looking for
**Education and Qualifications**
- Degree or Postgraduate diploma in journalism or equivalent experience in a professional environment.

**Experience and Knowledge
- A deep understanding of British politics at a local and national level.
- Excellent news judgement
- An NCTJ qualification or significant evidence of shift work / work experience at media outlets.
- Deep understanding of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc., and how these platforms play a role in the news.
- Thorough understanding of media law - copyright, defamation, privacy etc.
