Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

We are pleased to offer a 3 day a week (0.6 wte) CBT training role within Trafford Older Adult Secondary Services.. This is a two year contract for 3 days a week during training. All course fees will be paid and the post will be well supported and supervised. On successful completion of training the post holder will be expected to move to a 3 day a week substantive role as a cognitive behavioural therapist, offering this evidence based intervention to older people in Trafford cared for by the CMHT.

Attend and complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies (CBT for Psychosis & Bipolar disorder: CBTp&b). The course is delivered by The Psychological Therapies Training Centre at GMMH based in Prestwich.

In year 1 the trainee will attend the training centre for 1 day a week teaching and supervision, work with local primary care services 1 day a week delivering CBT therapy as part of training and be allocated approximately half a day a week to complete further study and course related assignments

In year 2 the trainee will attend the training centre 1 day a week for teaching and supervision and will be allocated approximately half a day a week to complete further study and complete assignments.

On successful completion of the training the post holder will provide a CBT therapy service to the Trafford Older Adult Community Mental Health Team.

Working closely with team psychologists, they will provide evidence-based CBT interventions to service users under the Older Adult CMHT who will present with a range of complex mental health needs, focussing particularly on working with those with psychosis and bipolar disorder.
