We work very closely with Service users and families, offering family interventions and carer education/support. We value Service User involvement and encourage participation in service developments on many levels including opportunities for peer support roles.

Main duties of the job

The post involves the provision of specialist psychological assessment and psychological therapy (cognitive behaviour therapy) primarily for young people (although our age range is 14-35 years) considered to be at high risk of developing serious mental health difficulties ( psychosis) or presenting with first episode psychosis. Our Early Intervention Service works with those with At Risk Mental State (ARMS).

Essential criteria

A doctorate level qualification ,registered qualification plus CBT, or specialist CBT certificate diploma

Desirable criteria

post qualifying experience delivering therapy for psychosis

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working in an MDT Experience of applying CBT to a range of mental health difficulties Experience in conducting high quality risk assessments and risk management plans Experience of formulating and delivering formulation driven interventions Experience of managing complex safeguarding an risk presentations

Desirable criteria

Working with children from 14 years and up and being able to adapt therapy accordingly family interventions for psychosis Experience of supervising the delivery of psychological approaches and providing supervision to non-psychologists.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

A high level of knowledge about evidence based psychological therapies (including cognitive behaviour therapy) for anxiety disorders

Desirable criteria

A high level of knowledge about the evidence base for psychological interventions for an at risk mental state, and prevention of deterioration in serious mental health difficulties.

Skills

Essential criteria

An ability to interact appropriately with people considered at risk of developing psychosis, people with first episode psychosis, clients with complex presentations and their carers and relatives. Excellent verbal and written communication
