An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Governance Lead in Radiology. Working alongside the Medical Governance Lead, the Radiology Lead Nurse and the Quality and Accreditation manager you will be taking a lead role in patient safety and quality Improvement across the Radiology Directorate.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an experienced practitioner with expert clinical knowledge and skills especially in the area of governance. The role requires the individual to collaborate with stakeholders who include clinical colleagues, managerial colleagues, analysts, other governance teams, and the Directorate Leadership Team for all aspects of clinical governance within the Radiology Directorate. Specifically the post holder will be expected: To work closely with the with the Directorate Medical Governance Lead. To provide leadership and specialist advice to, the services within the Directorate_,_ _regarding legislation, guidance and the regulatory framework relevant to the management of clinical risk and to improving clinical standards and patient safety. In collaboration with the Directorate Lead Nurse, lead the co-ordination and delivery of the Quality, Risk and Safety agenda and lead the Directorate response to the corporate and national agenda to deliver high quality safe patient care. Provide an authoritative and credible source of knowledge and specialist clinical advice/ information to the team.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PATIENT CARE AND CLINICAL EXPERTISE

To display and promote excellent clinical leadership in all areas of the hospital

Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice and support across the Directorate related to the quality and safety

To use their clinical experience to communicate with patients and families during highly sensitive and difficult situations, maintaining

To support ‘duty of candour’ where appropriate, in conjunction with the relevant clinical manager.

Support patient participation in relevant incident investigations and

Initiate the investigation of incidents in a timely manner, and manage the appropriate escalation of incidents. To support staff in the collation and submitting of RCA/ 72 hour escalation reports within timescales as per corporate policy.

PROMOTE AND ESTABLISH EFFECTIVE TEAM WORKING AND COMMUNICATION

Deputise for the Chair of the Radiology Quality and Governance meetings

To promote and facilitate effective and timely lines of communication within the teams, building relationships with all customer groups, and effecting delivery of actions.

In close liaison with the Radiology Quality and Accreditation manager take a leading role within the Directorate around patient safety and Maintain the principles of governance by encouraging achievement of standards of excellence, which are underpinned by open communication and team working across all disciplines.

Ensure effective communication between all service providers within the Directorate in relation to the quality, risk and safety agenda by attending Directorate and specialty meetings and representing the Directorate at trust meetings as

Represent the Directorate at local and national networking to maintain and develop knowledge in governance and patient safety.

Use skills and expertise to support staff who are involved with distressing

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT

Lead the implementation of education and training relating to quality, risk and safety to all members of staff in collaboration with pathway governance teams and local education

Work with multi-professional staff across the services to ensure that staff understand the national standards of care, the role of the Care Quality Commission and Public Health England and provide support to deliver these standards

Contribute and participate in the continuing development of all
