We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Autism Department Lead

to join our dedicated team at Seashell Trust. Reporting to the Deputy Head of

College, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead and develop good practice in

Autism department, overseeing staff, and driving forward innovative strategies to

enhance the learning experience for our students with Autism.

Based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, the Trust consists of the Royal School

Manchester (RSM), Royal College Manchester (RCM), outreach health and family

services and residential homes which provide a safe and supporting environment.

RCM offers tailored and specialist education and care to over 70 young people with

learning difficulties, disabilities, complex health needs and Autism for students aged

19 to 25.

RCM provides world-leading learning initiatives, resources and highly specialist

multi-sensory learning environments which are tailored to each individual young

person.

**What we’re looking for**:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience with students who have Autism and other learning difficulties.
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent Post-16 tutor qualification.
- Leadership experience, including managing a team of teaching and support staff within an educational setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in Autism education, including knowledge of sensory impairments, communication difficulties, and differentiated curriculum development.
- Proven ability to implement and evaluate teaching strategies that support the diverse needs of students with Autism.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices in Autism education.
- A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving, with a strong commitment to the welfare and development of students with complex disabilities.

**Autism Department Lead Role Outline**:
No two days will be the same with Seashell, you’ll help to promote the intellectual, physical and personal development of students in college.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Autism department ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs tailored to the needs of students with Autism.
- Managing a team of teaching and support staff within the Autism department, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and implement curriculum content, teaching materials, and learning initiatives that promote inclusive environments for students with Autism.
- Leading the planning, design, and delivery of programs and interventions to support the diverse needs of students with Autism, incorporating evidence based strategies and best practices.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning practices within the Autism department, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance student outcomes.
- Managing self-assessment and quality assurance processes within the Autism department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Providing oversight and management of course records and associate systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of student data.
- Acting as a point of contact for parents, carers, and external agencies involved in supporting students with Autism, fostering positive relationships and communication channels.
- Leading and facilitating regular team meetings, professional development sessions, and collaborative planning sessions to promote continuous learning and improvement within the Autism department.
- Collaborating with the Multidisciplinary Team to create Individual Learning
- Plans (ILPs) and ensure alignment with Individual Learner Schedules (ILS) for students with Autism.
