London, United Kingdom Architects Registration Board (ARB) Full time

Job description

**Policy and Engagement Officer**
**Location**:This post is based in our Central London office; however, ARB supports a flexible approach to hybrid working in the office and remotely
**Salary**:Starting at £32,000 per annum + excellent benefits
**Contract**:Full time, Permanent

Architects play a crucial role in our society because they design the buildings and environments where we live and work.

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the professional regulator of architects in the UK. We maintain a publicly available Register of architects so anyone using the services of an architect can be confident that they are suitably qualified and are fit to practise. We also set the standards of conduct and practice the profession must meet and take action when any architect falls below them.

**The main role responsibilities are**:

- Researching, planning, and contacting external organisations as part of a wide range of engagement activities and stakeholder relationship development.
- Working with colleagues to ensure engagement opportunities are designed to reach target audiences and promoting them to ensure ARB’s work and policy development is informed by a wide range of stakeholder groups.
- Organising meetings and events.
- Gathering, analysing, and interpreting evidence to inform and support the development of ARB policy, and preparing internal briefing material and reports as needed.
- Analysing consultation responses to deliver insights and recommendations, using a range of quantitative and qualitative approaches.
- Writing policy and analysis reports to an excellent standard, for a wide range of audiences.
- Contributing to the organisation’s horizon scanning by developing expertise and understanding in key areas, monitoring policy developments, and communicating these to colleagues.

**Major projects next year that you’ll work on include**:

- A new Commission looking at the practical experience part of an architect’s education, where you’ll help shape its engagement and work plan while supporting its expert Commissioners to develop policy solutions.
- Our review of the Architects Code that sets the standards of professional conduct and practice expected of architects, where you’ll use communications and policy engagement to add to our evidence base as we develop and finalise the new Code.

We’re looking for someone with some experience of stakeholder engagement and a keen interest in policy and communications, who wants to learn more and to develop their career. You don’t need to have worked in architecture or the built environment but you will need to be able to grasp complex policy issues and explain them, while being collaborative and interested in improving the built environment.

**What we offer in return**:

- A friendly and supportive company culture
- Generous salary,
- Pension and medical cover
- Great holiday allowance, plus an additional day to be used over the Christmas period.
- And much more

**The closing date is Wednesday 22nd November.**
