Join HMRC, the UK Customs Authority, in a dynamic and pivotal role as a Policy Support Officer. HMRC is the UK Customs Authority. Customs & Border Design (C&BD) Directorate staff work closely with both Policy partners across Government and operational delivery colleagues within HMRC and Border Force to regulate and facilitate International Trade. C&BD play a key role in driving the development and/or delivery of Policy, strategy and business plans across Government.

**Job description**:
As a Policy Support Officer, you will take a lead role supporting Customs Reporting, Penalties, and Powers Policy (CRPPP) team, its functions and corporate business for the Directorate.

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills to work flexibly within a policy team. You'll help shape customs policies that have a real-world impact on trade, enforcement, and revenue collection. Our team's focus areas include vehicle and aviation reporting requirements, seizure laws, penalties, and regulations related to the UK's exit from the EU. Post EU Exit legislation will relate to the Customs Import and Duty EU Exit Regulation (CIDEER) and the Tax (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 (TCTA).

**Responsibilities**:

- Working across HMRC and Government to help design, shape and deliver new Customs policies.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders and other teams within HMRC to deliver business outcomes.
- Manage cross-team work such as the inbox, performance hub and arranging meetings to support policy leads.
- Work with all stakeholders to ensure updates to procedures are recorded and published guidance is amended.

**Person specification**:
**Essential**:

- Be able to react flexibly and respond quickly to emerging priorities, whilst ensuring stakeholders are engaged, and ongoing projects remain on track.
- A self-starter with strong organisational skills and good stakeholder management experience.
- The ability to analyse and interpret policies, regulations, data and trends to provide insights and recommendations.
- Administrative experience such as monitoring team mailboxes, organising meetings and sending agendas.

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a policy role/policy delivery.
- Experience of working and supporting a team.
