**Purpose of the Job**:
This newly created position will play a vital role within the Trust’s central team, supporting both the Finance Director (FD) and Chief Operations Officer (COO) in undertaking a range of responsibilities to assist in both the creation and delivery of our Procurement Strategy which will also include oversight of key school contracts.

The role requires a strong commercial acumen as well as experience in working within public sector organisations, ideally in the Education sector (but not essential) to ensure that schools, their children and the organisation benefit from economies of scale and best value for money contract negotiations.

**Key duties and responsibilities**:

- Work closely with school colleagues to compile and maintain a comprehensive list of current school contractors and suppliers.
- Review benchmarking and spend analysis to identify potential areas of savings
- Work with FD to prioritise and implement savings on non-pay spend categories across the Trust.
- Initiate negotiations with current and prospective suppliers to enable effective competitive tendering and pricing.
- Review and support due diligence of new contractual arrangements with suppliers (including checking the suitability of the supplier, the obligations and any liabilities, the standards of service, the term and notice period, the right authorisation is obtained.
- Making use of the DfE’s Buying for Schools service and advice, and joining DfE webinars and events about buying for schools.
- Ensure the Trust and its schools are following proper procurement and spending decisions of its ‘public funds’ in line with the Academies Handbook, the Trust’s own policies and procedures, scheme of financial delegation, and compliant with current legislation and DfE guidance as appropriate.
- Ensure schools are prepared for, and take account of the Procurement Act 2023 in purchasing decisions.
- Ensure commercially sensitive information is collected, processed and stored in a secure and confidential manner.
- Prepare the Trust’s annual streamlined energy and carbon reporting
- Promote group contracts and framework agreements that represent best value for money.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months

**Salary**: £25,065.82-£35,156.85 per year
