An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring and compassionate person to join a well established team of Nursing Assistants working in the Women’s Health Clinic supporting RAC services. The post is for 22.5 hours per week and is temporary for 9 months. The Women’s Health Clinic is a stand alone unit providing all Outpatient services for both Maternity and Gynaecology patients. Services provided include ante natal clinics and scanning, Gynaecology outpatients which includes clinics for patients with suspected cancer, fertility concerns and Uro Gynaecology services). The Early Pregnancy Service (including the Termination of Pregnancy service) is also provided from Women’s Health Clinic. A high level of sensitivity, compassion and confidentiality is therefore required for this post.

Clinics are also provided at the Blaydon Primary Care Centre and the post holder will be required to work at this location when rostered to do so.
- Working with the clinic team supporting the patients journey in the clinic setting.
- Working closely with clinicians to manage, monitor and support the patient flow through the clinic.
- Supporting all members of the MDT to deliver high quality, safe patient care.
- Ensuring a safe working environment.
- Assisting the clinical staff to care for patients.
- Adopting a flexible approach to ensure all clinics are covered in a timely manner across sites

- Communicates information to staff, patients, relatives and carers.
- Communicates information in an empathetic and reassuring way where there may be barriers to communication/understanding i.e. speech/language/hearing difficulties.
- Communicates with patients, clients, relatives and staff whose first language may not be English.
- Is able to communicate effectively using written and oral skills.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues.
- Provide and receive routine information requiring tact or persuasive skills; barriers to understanding.
- Exchanges factual information with patients using persuasion, reassurance, tact, empathy, may overcome barriers to understanding e.g. patient has physical or mental disabilities.
- Acts as an ambassador/role model for the Women’s Health Clinic and the Trust.
- Able to prioritise the delivery of care to patients.
- Able to assist in the delivery of care of patients attending the outpatient clinic in accordance with trust and departmental protocols.
- Able to assist with the timely transfer of patients
- Initiates emergency treatment where necessary.
- Organises own day to day work tasks or activities.
- Plans own work.
- Able to travel plan in order to attend clinics at multiple sites.
- Able to work flexibly with regards to start and finish times and cover for clinics outside of normal working hours including weekends when required
