**About the role**
We’ve a great opportunity to join our team on the Bin the Wipe “Moment of Change” campaign we are running across the region to help support change in some of our customers thoughts on what they flush down the toilet.
**So, what is Bin the Wipe?**
Wet wipes are the biggest causes of blockages and sewer flooding, and we really need our customers help. With your support and advice, we can make a massive difference by making one easy change.
Many wipes are made from plastic, which means they don’t break down in water like toilet roll. Our toilets and sewer pipes are not designed for wipes. Even if the wipes aren’t in the toilet bowl, they might get stuck in the pipes near our customers home, or someone else’s.
Flushed wipes contribute to more than 60% of sewer blockages in the North East: it’s a huge issue. Flushing the wrong things down the toilet cause huge problems inside customers’ homes, in our communities and our environment.
Wrongly flushed items are a nightmare for everyone as they can cause all sorts of problems inside customers' homes, in the communities we live in and for the environment. So, we are working hard to raise awareness of these issues, so that our customers know about the problems wet wipes can cause.
Internally we call the role a Sewerage Maintenance Operatives, but this role is more about providing advice to our customers face to face, whilst maintaining the sewer network.
As a member of our team, you will undertake a field-based role, travelling to sites across the North East to maintain our sewerage network. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in protecting the environment and our customers, carrying out sewer maintenance to reduce pollution, and sewer flooding.
You’ll be working outside, dealing with different challenges, every day, working collaboratively with colleagues to safely deliver unrivalled customer service. For the roles on offer, you will ensure that your own, your colleagues’ and our customers’ health and safety is not compromised, and you will deliver excellent customer service.- Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date._
- Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked_
**About you**
Our Customer Field Advisor - Bin the Wipe will carry out a crucial role so we’re looking for people who are positive, with a can-do attitude and the ability to deliver great customer service - even when problems may be challenging.
As our Maintenance Operatives are field based, you will need to be self-sufficient, and have a high level of attention to detail, as you will be recording details on manual forms and electronic devices.
We are not looking for you to have experience of working in Water, Wastewater or maintenance, but more we are looking for you to come from a customer service background, so that maybe retail, hospitality, customer service industries. We need people who have a flexible approach, are happy to work outside in all weathers, have an ability or willing to learn the systematic tracing of our underground sewer network and are not afraid to get dirty
A full and valid driving licence will be required as we will provide you with a company van to get around in your role.
