Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BTHNHSFT) seeks to appoint a Health Independent Sexual Violence Advisor to be part of a service transforming the access to sexual violence services for victims in Lancashire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the service provided by BTHNHSFT.

The role will include building relationships with allied partners and stakeholders and raising awareness of the service. The role will include guiding and supporting health professionals in hospital and community setting on the identification and referral route into the service. Ensuring robust pathways are in place to support clients. You will aim to reach victims who may or may not have reported sexual violence or abuse to the police, providing initial information, advice and support and facilitate referral into the appropriate community based ISVA service for longer term support. The role is an integral part of BTHNHSFT Safeguarding Team and work collaboratively with Victim Support and adheres to Lime Culture best practice guidelines.

This role will be primarily based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and support acute and community staff and services. However, there will be a requirement to cross cover in the event of leave at other sites hosting BTHNHSFT HISVA service. Other sites include Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Royal Blackburn Hospital.
- Develops health role in service provision for victims of Sexual Violence
- To provide guidance and training about the service to health professionals in order for them to identify and refer potential victims of SVA.
- To establish a key working relationship with the Safeguarding Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and
- To advise/liaise with Police, Social Care and other agencies on health matters with regard to victims of sexual violence.
- Demonstrate an ability to manage, over prolonged periods of time, emotionally demanding work that is frequently distressing and stressful.
- Liaison with and working in conjunction with a variety of internal departments and external agencies. Communicating with members of the public, victims, witnesses, and other professionals from outside agencies, decisions and departments.
- Assess the needs and risk of victims of sexual violence, offering information about their options to enable them to make an informed decision about their care
- Work with victims of sexual violence to help them access services to keep them safe
- Make sure thatISVA national standardsand procedures are observed, particularly those relating to safe practice, confidentiality and information sharing.
- Manage a caseload as needed

- Recovery and rehabilitation for a variety of conditions including brain injury, stroke and elderly care.
- Sexual health and family planning services.
- Wellbeing and lifestyle including mental health services, heart health campaigns, and smoking cessation services.
- End of life and palliative care.

The post holder will work within a hospital /community setting and will work closely with the Health ISVA Service Coordinator and Lead Professionals within Safeguarding, to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms are in place.

The main duties of the post holder will be to promote the role of health sector in supporting victims of sexual abuse. Educate and empower health staff to recognise the signs of sexual violence and how to respond appropriately to disclosure. The post holder will act as a resource for colleagues by offering specialist knowledge, advice and skills. They will act as an autonomous practitioner ensuring workload is prioritised effectively, ensuring best decisions are made in respect of victims of sexual violence. Be able to adapt to unpredictable situations utilising skills knowledge and expertise.
