About the role

Working as part of the Chief Executive and Keeper’s Office, the Strategic Relations Coordinator is a key face of and ambassador for The National Archives in its work with high-profile external stakeholders and contacts.

You will plan, coordinate and contribute to a range of activities aimed at developing and enhancing The National Archives’ key strategic relationships, including VIP visits, tours, events, and exhibitions.

You will also work closely with the wider Chief Executive and Keeper’s Office (CEO’s Office) to identify and develop communication and engagement opportunities for the Chief Executive and Keeper and the wider organisation, and provide support to the Head of International and External Affairs in delivering strategic priorities for the team.

You will also provide coordination and administrative support across the activities of the CEO’s Office.

This is a full time post. However, requests for part-time working, flexible working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department. A combination of onsite and home working is available, and applicants should be able to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of their work time.

About you

With a track-record of building strong trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a good understanding of The National Archives’ role and key strategic relationships.

A strong team player, you will be able to work flexibly across a range of projects with mínimal supervision.

Very organised, you will have problem solving and planning/project management skills enabling you to support the Chief Executive and Keeper’s Office team on ad hoc projects and in the general day-to-day administration of the office.

- A track record of building strong trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Diplomacy, tact and understanding of others’ priorities to achieve common goals in a flexible way
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good influencing, persuasion and engagement skills
- Good analysis, problem solving and planning/project management skills
- Strong organisational abilities, including accurate record keeping
- Good understanding of The National Archives’ role and key strategic relationships, as well as of the key strategic issues facing the organisation
- Proven ability to use own initiative, work with mínimal supervision and ability to meet deadlines
- A team player able to work flexibly across a range of projects as required
