To work with guidance from the CSF on the planning, implementation, provision and evaluation of an ergonomically based specialised clinical skills training programme. Update the theoretical underpinning components: evidence based, best clinical practice and competency criteria, being aware at all times of statutory obligations and national strategies and their impact on service delivery. Under guidance of the CSF, to audit and evaluate the development of both practice and skills training programmes. To be a professional resource for students and staff; giving advice regarding teaching and the use of specialist equipment.

To ensure as far as possible under the sphere of influence that; trainees are fit for purpose and practice. Implement and maintain an effective record system (data base) of learners and any systems that are used within the team. Together with the CSF, liaise with the HEIs and key health care professionals to ensure that clinical skills training is developed in line with changes in best practice standards, education and research, statutory obligations and national strategies. To network and attend educational meetings, events and workshops within the trust, HEIs and throughout the UK to keep informed of current best practice standards and initiatives and sharing information with the service users.

Act as a professional resource for advice and education regarding knowledge and skills and in the use of the clinical skills models for the service users. Work alongside the technicians in supporting them maintaining the clinical skills equipment and environment, teaching resources and records; to ensure efficient use of the clinical skills laboratory throughout the year. Identify in liaison with the users of the laboratory and clinical tutors, the equipment purchaseand maintenance requirements.Monitor usage and purchase of stock, equipment and stationery as required. Implement and maintain a booking room system for the clinical skills laboratory and simulation suite within the Prince William Education Centre booking policy Carry out appropriate risk assessments and in liaison with the centre manager, ensure that risk reducing measures for self and service users are in place and reviewed during training sessions.

Guide and assist HCPs in identifying key course components and creating structured clinical skill programmes for members of the multi-disciplinary team, aimed at improving service and ensuring national initiatives are complied with. Actively facilitate staff development and support by initiating and maintaining communication links with practitioners/clinicians/mentors/supervisors and managers to cultivate a diverse range of experts to contribute to clinical skills teaching. To provide on request, a yearly report against the National Health Service Litigation Authority (NHSLA) standards, ensuring any change of practice is implemented and documented. To be professionally and legally accountable for own work, demonstrating high level of knowledge of evidence and speciality.

Supporting the Leadership, Education and Development Department with compiling information and to be an active part of internal and external audit processes. Maintain own professional clinical credibility and visibility in the Trust by maintaining personal development plan in line with CSF lead. Attending meetings as required representing the team where possible. Being able to keep and record actions taken in role and report back on outcomes both Verbally and in formal written reports.

Prioritise own workload, be aware of own responsibilities balancing other professional demands and adjust plans to meet the needs of the service.
