We are looking for an experienced Manual Handling Trainer with a patient handling qualification and experience of working within an acute, community or mental healthcare setting to join the Manual Handling Team at NHFT, providing a countywide service.

The role requires an enthusiastic, confident trainer with a sound knowledge of patient handling practices and equipment to assist the Manual Handling Lead to develop/deliver and review a countywide programme of mandatory and client specific patient handling training for all staff within NHFT.

The Manual Handling Team, while not being large is a busy, friendly department to work in. Our ethos is to support each other as well as colleagues from the wider Trust in developing expertise and best practice.

We have team meetings every other month, as well as regular planned peer support. As a team, we embrace change and are forward looking and encourage every member to have a voice in our continuing development. Our main focus is to provide the best quality training to staff across the Trust.

This is a full time permanent post, applicants must have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle on a daily basis is essential.

The post holder will assist the Manual Handling Lead to support both clinical and non-clinical areas to identify, assess and manage risks relating to both manual handling and complex patient handling activities supporting staff to formulate safe systems of work and robust patient risk assessments and plans of care.

Excellent IT skills to assist with audit, reports and training schedules/packages is required, as is the aptitude to work both autonomously as well as an effective team member. The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Trust staff, volunteers, patients and external agencies is required.

**The post holder will support the Manual Handling Lead to**:

- Provide specialist evidence based advice to all staff groups on back care and moving and handling activities.
- Assist with the development, implementation and review of a countywide programme of mandatory and client specific patient handling training for all staff within NHFT.
- Develop clinical scenario-based training for clinical staff.
- Assist clinical staff with complex patient handling scenarios to formulate plans of care and safe systems of work.
- Facilitate meetings with external companies/organisations, including volunteers and equipment manufacturers.
- Deputise for the Manual Handling Lead in their absence.
- Supervise and support the Clinical Skills trainers.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
