**About the role**:

In the Planning Service we are investing in our staff and developing a modern, positive and customer-focused Planning Service. We are introducing a new post to the service, a s106 Monitoring Officer who will help to administrate s106 agreements and payments and payments made under the Community Infrastructure Levy.

There is a variety of different types and scale of development within Brighton and Hove and the team has an extensive and varied s106 and CIL caseload agreements. s106 agreements can be attached to planning permissions and are used to secure funding or schemes to mitigate the impact of a development in the city. The postholder will play a key role in coordinating and monitoring the various agreements and their key deadlines, ensure monies are paid by developers and then allocated and spent by the various departments across the council. Good organisation and communication skills are essential to this role.

The post holder will help to develop and maintain our database that records all relevant details from obligations and will also liaise with finance to ensure there is an accurate trail of monies outstanding, received and spent. In addition, the successful postholder will prepare monitoring reports to planning officers, other services, Executive Leadership team and committees as and when required.

The postholder has the opportunity to be part of the implementation of various developments and key council activities around the city by helping to manage the portfolio of s106 and CIL work that planning permissions have resulted in.

You offer flexible working arrangements where staff can work from home and you will be able to work at our base in Hove Town Hall on agreed days.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
