**Overview**
Pertemps Recruitment on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join the ALS Finance Team in their Quarrendon Adult Learning Centre (HP19 area). Working alongside the Team you will support the Finance Manager inthe effective and efficient running of Adult Learning finance functions, assisting to set, monitor and manage the service budget with specific responsibilities for some aspects of it, in compliance with the council's financial regulations
**About the role**
As a Finance Officer you will have a number of responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

- Assist the Finance Manager in the monitoring of income and expenditures against budgets and reporting variances as necessary
- Carry out finance tasks such as monitoring of the finance mailbox, raising of customers and subcontractor Management Fees invoices, processing sundry payments, processing petty-cash transactions and processing journals
- Administer grant payments, with specific responsibility for ensuring that payments are allocated to the correct cost centre on the SAP system by working with colleagues across the service.
- Carry out the analysis of the fees income received by different payment methods on the bespoke MIS system to the fees income recorded on the SAP system and advising the Finance Manager of significant variances.
- Provide cover for other members of the Finance and administration team as required
- To work with the Finance Manager to accurately record, monitor and report tutor salary commitments by carrying out tutor pay analysis for budget monitoring purposes.
- Processing monthly payroll from registers and paper-based claims for tutors, casual and all claims-based staff. To assist with sickness monitoring for tutors and all claims-based staff
- Processing paperwork for permanent tutors; ensuring that activity returns are submitted, chasing for the required information where necessary and escalating any issues to the Finance Manager. Regularly carrying out the reconciliation against their pre-agreedhours and pay to date, advising the appropriate colleagues of any significant variances.
- To deal with the day to day queries from tutors, prospective tutors and all claims-based staff liaising with Central HR and line manager when necessary
- Undertake ad-hoc payroll tasks as required and / or directed by the Finance Manager.

The Quarrendon Adult Learning Centre is conveniently situated close to the town centre (HP19 area) with great transport links including a local train station and excellent road connections to the M25, M1, M4 and M40
**About you**
We are looking for someone with experience in the following:

- SAP
- SharePoint
- MS Office
- Experience in reconciliations against remittances and of cost centres, internal journals to correct postings
- Experience of reconciling monies received and/or expected so that they are coded correctly and requested from central finance (Grants/ Fees/ Direct Debits).
- Experience of reconciling cost centres with Budget holders and correcting job codes as needed.
- Experience of raising/ chasing invoices

Due to the frequent liaison activities, excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
You will need to be highly accurate with attention to detail. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
