**About the role**

As the Head of Retail Innovation and Change, beyond the in year running, you will be accountable for identifying, leading and overseeing multi-year transformative initiatives and programmes that will increase our Waitrose retail businesses profitability, productivity and customer metrics which generate the funds required to sustain ongoing transformation and offset any increasing costs.

You will be accountable for an extensive budget, ensuring change and transformation activities are brought together within the Retail Value Stream, working with multiple stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for retail transformation encompassing the implementation of the physical estate programme of activity and as well as all other retail change activity (retail and Partnership driven) which will need to be prioritised, financially viable and always in service of delivering Waitrose’s contribution to the Partnership Plan.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for retail transformation, aligning with the Partnerships and Brands overall objectives
- Drive innovation in retail operations, exploring and implementing new technologies, processes and shop operating models which enhance customer experience, operational efficiency and Partner productivity.
- Looking outward both externally and to the future, acting with curiosity and passion to challenge the status quo allowing innovation at pace to transform the Partnership.ership and Brands overall objectives.

**Essential skills you’ll need**
- Progressive and inclusive leadership experience within the retail industry, with a focus on grocery retail preferred with a deep understanding of shop operations
- Demonstrable experience of developing and executing a retail transformation strategy which generated funds to allow for re-investment
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale retail transformation initiatives, demonstrating a tangible impact on operational efficiency, customer experience and Partner productivity.
- Proficient project management skills in order to be accountable for the plans to be executed and reviewed within defined timelines and budgets
