Brand Strategy Lead

This role will contribute to the delivery of the overall Partnership Plan by helping modernise and optimise the value of our Waitrose brand.
To define and evolve an insight-led brand positioning and 3 year brand and customer strategy for Waitrose to ensure the brand is differentiated, competitively positioned and appealing to our target customers.
This role leads the team at the heart of what Waitrose means for customers, working collaboratively with counterparts across commercial, E&S, strategy, retail and online as well as the rest of the customer directorate to ensure it is widely supported and understood.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Champion the brand - be the advocate, protector and representative of the brand across all areas of Waitrose as well as in the wider Partnership.
- Ensuring the brand and customer strategy is effectively communicated and is influential to wider business decision making in order to build brand salience and deliver commercial ambitions.
- Responsible for Own Brand strategy, working with and supporting the Own Brand Strategy Manager, to define the strategic direction for the Own Brand propositions and sub-brands for the next 2-5 years based on Customer strategic direction.
- You will own consistency of brand expression, direction and developmental pace across missions, category propositions and touchpoints.

**Essential Skills**:
- Minimum of three years experience in a brand and/or customer strategy in a large retailer.
- First class understanding of the retail market and the underlying economics of a businesses.
- Demonstrable experience of influencing stakeholders up to board level and in a range of business contexts.
- Demonstrable experience of providing strategic insight: framing issues, conclusions and recommendations to enable quick and sound decision making.
- Advanced written communication skills, experience of writing reports and presentations.
- Good understanding of strategic and analytical tools and techniques.
- Experience in developing and executing brand and customer strategies in a large, complex organisation.
- Experience of translating brand strategies into clear business recommendations.
- Competence in customer segmentation.
- Extensive experience in working with Insight and Financial measures.
- Experience leading effective teams.
