**Role Length: This opening assignment is for 1-2 months**
**May be required to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends on occasions** An Electoral Services Business Support Officer is required to provide administrative support to the Electoral Services team to ensure all electoral services are run efficiently within the legislative guidelines, are open, transparent and accessible to the public and other stakeholders. The team is responsible for compiling the electoral register and running Local and National Elections and Referendums. To assist with the organisation and conduct of the District and Parish Council Elections being held on 4 May 2023. May be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays to meet service needs and demanding deadlines. Key responsibilities:

- Assist the Electoral Services Team as required with the arrangements for the Local Elections.
- Be the first point of contact from Customer Services for electoral registration enquiries.

**Qualifications**:

- Good standard of education including GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

**Experience**:

- Experience of working in an admin/support role or work experience in a similar field.
- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Knowledge of Civica Xpress Register and Management Systems desirable.
- Experience of providing good quality customer service.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and processes desirable.

**Skills**:

- Able to plan, organise and prioritise work effectively.
- Able to work on own initiative as well as part of the team with the ability to switch between tasks and juggle competing deadlines and demands.
- High level of accuracy and good attention to detail.
- Ability to travel throughout the district to provide support where required.
- Flexible to undertake out of hours work as required.
- An engaging, enthusiastic and positive manner with a strong “can do” approach.
- Well organised and methodical able to perform efficiently and effectively under pressure.
- Team worker with ability to work on own initiative within legislation.
- Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
