**Job summary**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the benign Clinical Nurse Specialist in the urology department at University Hospitals Birmingham, the job will be based at the QE site. The post is a 12-month fixed term/secondment for 22.5 hours per week.

You will learn and carry out trial without catheters, flow rate, suprapubic catheter changes, give bladder installation and teach clean intermittent catheterisation. As well as helping in some procedures like lithotripsy and urodynamics. You will also give advice to patients on the phone, offer counselling for procedures as well as attending a weekly MDT.

You will work closely alongside and be supported by a dedicated team of urology clinical nurse specialists, Urological Consultants and Outpatients staff.

The successful nurse will be able to demonstrate the ability to drive forward and deliver services using change management and have the skills to measure any changes made using clinical audit.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The main duties of this job will involve delivering care to patients with benign urological conditions, urology experience is desirable but not essential.

The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines.

Take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of high standard of holistic, patient centred care.

To be designated to act as a deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility for the organisation and management of the practice setting.

A proven track record of clinical and professional experience.

Excellent interpersonal and organisational and communication skills.

Providing advice via the telephone to support care and triage.

- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6
