An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join our team in the uro-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team. We are located at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

You will be expected for work during our hours of service which run Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm.

X2 full time positions fixed term for 12 months

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Managing patients with urological malignancies with an emphasis on prostate and bladder cancers.

Assist with administration of intravesical chemotherapy.

Assist with administration of androgen deprivation treatment.

Managing prostate and bladder cancer patients throughout their cancer pathway; both surgical and non-surgical treatments.

The post holder will act as a role model for junior team members in the delivery of a consistent high standard of nursing practice.

They will deputise for the senior CNSs and will support the leadership and management of the department with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards.

They will have continuing clinical responsibility for their patient case load in the absence of the senior CNSs and in addition the deployment, delegation and supervision of all grades of staff and be visible and approachable for patients, staff and visitors.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6

**Desirable**:

- Urology experience

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice
- Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
- Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC

**Desirable**:

- Experience in service development
