**Hours**:17.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday (8am - 11.30am) during the school's term-time 37 weeks.

**General**:
Mary Hare educates 240 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where we can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.

The office is responsible for all administration tasks for the education side of the school including arranging and preparing Annual Review meeting for over 200 pupils who have EHCPs. The office is key in supporting all teaching staff.

**The Role**:
The Attendance Officer will be responsible for providing effective administrative support, inputting attendance and punctuality procedures. This person must be a ‘people person’ with liaising with the different departments to gather attendance data, is pleasant and able to remain calm in a very busy school office.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Input and maintain all relevant absence data into SIMS and other relevant systems
- Liaise with reception for students arriving late to school and follow up with appropriate action
- Regularly send parents Attendance reports/letters, highlighting any low percentage attendance
- Support the Office Manager by implementing attendance procedures throughout the school
- Co-ordinate and communicate information to relevant staff, agencies and parents
- Assist with sending Exclusion/ Behaviour letters and arranging readmittance meetings.
- Attend relevant meetings as requested by the Office Manager and record notes/minutes if required

- General Secondary Education or equivalent (English and Maths essential)
