**About the Service**
North Staffs Mind’s social support groups have been an integral part of our adult services for many years. We run a range of peer support and mental wellbeing groups and we are looking for an Adult Group Coordinator who can facilitate these, manage the small team and develop our group work further.
The postholder will also contribute to the effective delivery of one-to-one support to individuals, when appropriate and will ensure that appropriate policies and procedures conform to best practice.
**About You**
We are looking for a fully qualified Counsellor with a real passion for supporting adults experiencing mental health issues. You will work with the Services Manager to coordinate, deliver and develop our social support groups within a challenging and changing environment.
You should have experience of group work, line management, be willing to work flexibly and have an enthusiastic approach to developing our peer support offer.
You should be committed to working with the wider team in order to achieve the best possible outcome for every person you work with.
**Main responsibilities**:
The Adult Group Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of North Staffs Mind’s social support groups and drop-ins. The postholder will contribute to the effective delivery of one-to-one support to individuals, when appropriate and will ensure that appropriate policies and procedures conform to best practice.
**Key tasks**:
- Be proactive in developing new ideas to improve the service, both for remote groups and face to face meetings and to source opportunities and potential funding for new groups/drop-ins.
- Develop and deliver workshops and facilitate our Adult Groups.
- Provide one-to-one support to service users, when appropriate.
- Facilitate and provide general support to service users experiencing mental health difficulties using social support groups, which may vary in presentation and size.
- Maintain records of attendance figures for the social support groups and of activity carried out.
- Provide timely and accurate data on activity, outcomes, and attendance levels to the Services Manager to facilitate the production of quarterly monitoring reports.
- Provide line management to paid and voluntary staff involved in social support group activity.
- Co-ordinate the volunteer rota for the social support groups.
- Arrange and attend meetings with our Fundraising Lead and Service User Engagement Coordinator to provide feedback on social support group activity and update the Services Manager with any ongoing needs/issues.
- Liaise and network with other service providers such as health, social care, Benefits Agency, CAB, housing, and employment advisers so that service users can be effectively signposted and supported in moving on to other beneficial services.
- Demonstrate excellent organisation and communication skills, when supporting people and other colleagues.
- Share information required ensuring that the individual clients are protected/supported in line with agreed North Staffs Mind policies and procedures and GDPR.
- Ensure that clients and staff work in a safe and appropriate way within the group environment, maintaining appropriate boundaries always including confidentiality.
- Appropriately manage any concerns raised within the group, or by a service user, to ensure the clients are supported adequately.
