Lead Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP)

**Team Management**:
Lead and manage the team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENP), overseeing recruitment, retention, performance, sickness, and appraisal processes.

Ensure the effective functioning of the establishment by providing support, appropriately allocating study and annual leave, and ensuring operational continuity.

**Performance Monitoring and Improvement**:
Implement robust strategies to monitor and enhance team performance, identifying areas for improvement and taking proactive measures.

Develop and execute initiatives to recruit, retain, and select staff within budget constraints, ensuring a competent and effective workforce.

**Operational Efficiency**:
Strategically manage the increasing demand for Urgent Treatment Centre services, anticipating pressures on the service and identifying efficiency savings to maintain financial balance.

Oversee individual budgetary service cost centres to ensure effective financial management.

**Clinical leadership**:
Conduct initial patient assessments at the Urgent Care Centre (UTC), directing individuals to appropriate care pathways, treatments, or referrals.

Work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload of patients and ensuring high-quality clinical care.

Demonstrate daily ownership of the Urgent Treatment Centre, actively contributing to its success and continuous improvement.

Play a key role in the development of local guidelines, protocols, and standards to enhance the quality of care provided.

**Clinical Expertise**:
Formulate working medical diagnoses for patients with undifferentiated urgent or emergency health care problems.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, make referrals, administer medication within specified guidelines, and discharge patients as appropriate.

**Resource of Knowledge**:
Serve as a clinical knowledge and expertise resource for nurses and doctors, contributing to a collaborative and informed healthcare environment.

Provide specialist knowledge and advice within the UTC to optimize the use of community healthcare options and reduce dependency on the UTC.

**Flexibility and Collaboration**:
Work flexibly to accommodate the dynamic needs of the service, ensuring responsiveness and adaptability.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to maximize patient and professional utilization of community healthcare alternatives.

**Professional Practice**:
Provide evidence-based practice by incorporating the latest research-based guidelines and contributing to the development of practice-based research.

Maintain up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge and competence in all aspects of the role, adhering to the respective NMC/HCPC Code of Professional Conduct.

**Documentation and Collaboration**:
Record accurate consultation data in patients' records, ensuring compliance with NMC guidance and other relevant standards.

Foster collaborative relationships by working effectively with colleagues both within and external to the Emergency Department.

**Ownership and Contribution**:
Educational Leadership

Stay informed about current nursing trends and advancements, acting as a point of reference and guidance for nurses and doctors in the Emergency Department.

Serve as an ENP/ECP mentor and facilitator, contributing to the professional development of colleagues.

Conduct teaching sessions within the Emergency Department, focusing on Emergency Nurse Practitioner skills.

Undertake continuous professional development, participating in opportunities to enhance and expand the scope of professional practice for Autonomous practitioners within the Emergency and Urgent Care directorate.

Stay abreast of evolving healthcare practices and advancements, integrating new knowledge into the delivery of high-quality patient care.
