Governance Professional

We are looking for a new Governance Professional to join our Corporation body. This is a critical role to support and guide our corporation members by providing independent, high quality guidance on statutory, constitutional, operational, procedural and ethical issues as they affect the Corporation, its committees and its subsidiaries. You will report directly to the Chair of the Corporation and will also attend Senior Management meetings as required by the role.
**Your duties
You will be comfortable to act as an independent voice in guiding and advising the corporation members on all aspects of governance including statutory and regulatory compliance and external governance relations. As such you will be adept at advising Governors on high standards of governance practice while promoting and supporting strong working relationships between the Chair, Principal and Governors. You will proactively review legislative and regulatory developments and advise the Corporation and Committees accordingly. You will coordinate and oversee internal audit arrangements for the Corporation and its committees and will draft all statutory documentation on behalf of the Board.

**Person specification
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have relevant degree or professional qualification with experience in a relevant profession such as law, finance or business management. You will have the expertise and confidence to operate independently of the senior management team and to provide advice which is unbiased and impartial. In addition, you should have experience of working in a Company Secretarial or similar senior capacity with exposure to board level interaction. Experience of corporate governance is also required. Ideally you will also have experience of data management and compliance with the Data Protection Act including the management of data requests.
You will be highly organised with a flexible approach to your work. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with a strong commitment to the values and vision of the organisation. As a confident user of IT systems you will champion the use of online tools and systems to effectively support sharing of information and data management by Governors and stakeholders. You will be resilient and equally comfortable working as part of a team or independently on projects. In this key post, you will also be able to demonstrate strengths in partnership development and the cultivation of productive business relationships.
