An exciting opportunity has arisen at one of the UK’s Leading Higher Education Institutes for an experienced Project Manager to join on a temporary six month contract to proactively**lead, encourage and support engagement with chartering forAthena Swan awards and devise policy, training and support to advance gender equality.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Set up an Athena Swan project plan / framework and strategic objectives and to proactively engage with departments to set project timeframes to achieve these objectives over each 5-year award period.
- Provide specialist insight and guidance on Athena Swan, chartering and disseminate this across the University.
- Work in collaboration with data analysis colleagues to ensure relevant and accurate data is available, in a timely manner.
- Lead on coordinating progress on the institutional Silver Athena Swan action plan, working toward future submissions.
- Analyse and present complex data so that it is understood by a range of audiences.
- Keep abreast of good practice in supporting women’s careers in academia.
- Design and deliver presentations/training on issues relating to the Athena Swan Charter and gender equality.
- Attend and present at departmental Athena Swan Self Assessment Team meetings as and when relevant.
- Work with the Organisational Development team to devise suitable training for staff around gender equality.
- Organise and attend events relating to gender equality.
- Develop and support the gender equality steering group and related networks.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- Knowledge of the Athena Swan charter.
- Knowledge of gender equality in academia and up-to-date knowledge of the good practice and policy that has been developed to advance careers for under-represented groups.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and its implications in employment practice.
- Strong proven analytical skills (including creation of complex statistical reports) with the ability to interpret data and recommend suitable solutions.
- Excellent written English, specifically the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues at all levels of the organisation and create successful networks to achieve organisational change.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks and projects to meet agreed goals / targets and outcomes.
- Experience of working on Athena Swan and delivering success in chartering under this scheme.
- Experience of working in higher education.
- Experience working in a large, complex organisation.
- Effective presentation skills, with the ability to design desirable training/presentations, present complex data and policy information, and ensure clear, consistent and engaging messages about policy to a variety of audiences.
