Peri-operative Assistant

To ensure that all statutory measures, policies and procedures are adhered to. To maintain high standards of care. Responsible for maintaining women and birthing peoples dignity. To be responsible for safe keeping of women, birthing people and their families property.
Co-ordinate the safe arrival of women, birthing people and their support person to theatre. To report any non-compliances to senior nurse/midwife on ward. Where indicated and when requested perform venepuncture. To carry out circulating duties to support the theatre team.
To prepare certain equipment, check instrumentation, swabs etc with scrub practitioners. When working on circulating duties, to assist with specimen collection, correct labelling and correct transportation. Assist with arranging transportation and cleaning of all equipment used within the theatre department. To be aware of risk assessment and the audit process.
Organise necessary additional equipment for theatre or for transfer of patients to other departments. Collect and store linen and theatre scrubs. To be aware of normal parameters of vital signs To record and monitor vital signs and complete MEWS escalating as appropriate To maintain a clean and tidy environment in line with cleaning schedules. To ensure that good relationships are maintained within the departments and within the hospital.
To adhere to health and safety act requirements and other trust polices including COSHH and RIDDOR. To attend departmental meetings. To undertake required training and participate in statutory in-service training as appropriate. Please see attached job description and person specification to this advert for further details.
