**Background and Key Purpose of the role**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Administrative Court Office as team leader of the Issues and Enquiries team. As a team leader, you will be expected to manage and oversee the day to day running of the Issues and Enquiries team and to line manage and support administrative officer staff. The post holder will also have regular contact with court users, including members of the judiciary and legal professionals. In addition to managerial duties, the post holder is responsible for their own work.

All staff regardless of the job they do are expected to provide a high level of performance. The organisation is continuously adopting new or better ways of working to ensure that it focuses on just that which is essential.

**Key Responsibilities, included but no limited to**:

- To lead and manage a team of administrative officers.
- Monitor key performance areas, analysing performance trends and making recommendations for improvement to the delivery manager.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of procedures and working practices and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation.
- To provide written and verbal advice to queries from staff and court users.
- To deal with customers’ enquiries and complaints and address any root causes.
- Contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets.
- Manage resources (including staff and facilities) to ensure excellent customer service to all stakeholders, judiciary, and management.
- Provide statistical data for the management team and judiciary.
- Oversee the review of job cards and updating standard letters and correspondence, minutes, notes, reports and submissions.
- To provide training and support with the aim of developing staff.
- Ensuring own mandatory training requirements are facilitated and kept up to date.
- Ensuring compliance and administration documentation meet quality standards (key control checks).
- Checking the work of others, updating records, assessing the value of goods and/or property, preparing invoices, information gathering and running straightforward reports.
- To provide support to the higher executive officer, lawyers, and members of the judiciary.

**Other duties**

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

**Essential Skills & Criteria**:

- Strong customer focus and service skills.
- Experience of working in an administrative role in a customer focussed environment.
- Proficient with IT and Microsoft Software packages.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Pays attention to detail and an ability to work at pace calmly.
- Excellent organisational and task management skills.
- Confident building strong personal relationships across a large and complex organisation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

**Security Level**:
If you do not meet the above requirements, you may still be considered if, for example:

- You've been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
- You were studying abroad
- You were living overseas with parents
- In such cases you will need to be able to provide referee cover for the period(s) of residence overseas. The duration of overseas residence and the country of abode will also be taken into account and a local police check carried out.
