**Responsibilities**:
**About the role**

Building on the strong Harm Reduction focus in our Norfolk service delivery we’re looking for an expert to support with the harm reduction offer across CGL Norfolk, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure both the ethos and the evidence base of harm reduction informs all aspects of service delivery.

You’ll champion an organisational and wider systems culture which believes in people who use drugs and alcohol, giving them the respect and freedom of choice to improve their health and wellbeing.

You’ll also support with internal and external training and awareness raising to improve understanding and outcomes for people who use drugs and alcohol.
- To ensure that Prevention and Harm Reduction messages are integrated throughout the region’s recovery services. Contribute to Public Health initiatives and campaigns via all relevant strategic and implementation groups.
- To develop, implement, maintain and evaluate Prevention Promotion and Harm Reduction strategies and programmes related to individuals, communities and organisations that work with individuals with drug and/or alcohol use disorders
- To reduce drug related harm to the individual and wider community, including reducing harms associated with use of substances across the life course - whilst improving wellbeing by tapping into, and facilitating access into community and specialist resources available
- To promote healthier life styles and enable service users to improve their own health and wellbeing, across the life course
- Screen for blood borne viruses and contribute to integrated care planning to assure effective referrals to Hepatology and Sexual Health services to enable assessment for specialist treatment. Support the provision of pre and post blood borne virus test discussion

**About you**:

- Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
- Understanding of current health promotion issues and debates including behaviour change theories and quantitative and qualitative models of evaluation
- Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
- Experience and ability to develop, implement, maintain and evaluate Prevention Promotion and Harm Reduction strategies and programmes related to individuals, communities and organisations that work with individuals with drug and/or alcohol use disorders
- Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
- Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
- Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
- Understanding of harm reduction in relation to safeguarding children and adults
