An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Support Worker to join the Renal Rehabilitation Team at NUH. We are looking for motivated, experienced individual looking for a new opportunity for a fixed period of time to cover maternity leave (fixed term contract or secondment). You will be required to work innovatively, blending physiotherapy and occupational therapy to deliver well rounded, holistic rehabilitation to inpatients with various stages of kidney disease. You will work closely with both therapy teams and alongside a band 4.

Main duties of the job

You will provide effective patient-centred care for a wide range of patients. You will assess and treat patients independently as well as work alongside an established group of physiotherapists ranging from bands 2-7 on the renal wards at City Campus of NUH.

You will be encouraged to assess new patients, determine suitability of mobility aids and discharge where appropriate. You will work alongside more experienced team members to treat more complex cases. You will signpost to external rehabilitation providers as indicated.

You will converse with patients from a wide variety of backgrounds and use non-verbal communication skills and manual handling techniques to facilitate rehabilitation goals.

You will be expected to maintain your own written records and communicate clearly with therapists and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will actively work to embody and promote TEAM NUH's values and behaviours.

Working for our organisation

NUH is one of the largest teaching trusts in the UK and offers excellent opportunities for training and development. NUH Therapies and Rehabilitation Directorate offers supportive, nurturing environment for personal development, with a robust appraisal process, many learning opportunities, and opportunity to contribute to service improvement and development.

The renal team at NUH is dynamic, working across multiple environments including acute wards, dialysis units and tertiary centres. The MDT is highly specialised and there are always opportunities to learn. The renal physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams are nested within wider medical teams, including oncology, haematology and respiratory medicine. This provides great opportunities for learning and cross-specialty working. Peer support is encouraged, with opportunity to join with other therapy support workers for development programmes.
