A great opportunity has arisen to join our Health Care of Older People (HCOP) Occupational Therapy (OT) Team at NUH as a permanent Therapy Support worker.

You will be involved in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients who have complex physical and cognitive needs, working alongside a large Multi-disciplinary team to support patients discharge from hospital.

We are looking for an individual who has had experience of working in therapies, within a health or social care setting, and enjoys working with the frail older client group. You will be highly motivated, have the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a busy environment, and can work well in a team or on your own.

Main duties of the job

You will work both individually and alongside other members of the OT team. Your OT tasks will include being responsible for gathering information about home circumstances, completing specific functional assessments, ordering equipment and providing rehabilitation and planning discharges. There are also daily administration tasks that are key in this role.

You will be expected to ensure that you maintain your continuing professional development throughout.

Strong communication skills are essential to ensure patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team are kept informed verbally and via written notes and IT systems.

You will be required to work across several wards between the City and QMC campus as well as rostered onto weekend shifts

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
- GCSE (A-C) English and Maths or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake further training and learn new skills

Experience

Essential criteria
- Ability to effectively manage own case/work load, with support
- Previous experience of working in the NHS or a care setting
- Previous experience as a therapy or Rehab assistant

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
- Good communication skills with a variety of people/settings
- Effective written, verbal and listening communications skills
- Can work independently or under direction of a variety of supervisors

Physical skills

Essential criteria
- Physical ability to undertake manual and therapeutic handling of patients and/or equipment on a daily basis in a variety of environments
- Basic computer skills

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
