Occupational Therapy Assistant practitioner - Health Care Older Persons (37.5 hours).

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our older adults therapy team working alongside experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists on the healthcare of the older person wards at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner you will provide appropriate assessments, treatment and discharge planning for patients under the supervision of a senior therapist.

You will be required autonomously as well as working closely with the MDT to develop and execute rehabilitation programmes, as well as facilitate discharges with the support of senior staff.

With good multi-disciplinary team working and strong links with our discharge teams, our friendly and supportive team work together to help support patient flow, ensuring a safe discharge from hospital.

This post requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Main duties of the job

You will work with a degree of autonomy, and as part of a team manage a designated workload, maintaining appropriate records, within a scope of practice and accept accountability and responsibility for own actions.

You will evaluate patient progress and use your own judgement to make amendments to the treatment programme within your scope of practice.

You will undertake administrative and some house-keeping duties to support the Occupational Therapy service.

There will be opportunities for you to engage in service developments and training and you will assist with the supporting and skill development of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff including assistants, apprentices and students.

Please note that this is a cross-site post covering both City and QMC campuses.

You will be required to work Bank Holidays & Weekends as part of a rota.
