Government affairs sits within global Corporate Affairs and is responsible for shaping the external regulatory environment to support Kennedys' growth and profitability, while driving innovation through regulation in a way that is positive for clients, their customers and broader society.

You will be a key strategic advisor to our Director of Corporate Affairs and Head of Innovation, enabling them to successfully navigate the fast evolving regulatory landscape on issues that cover everything from civil procedure, data protection, disruptive technology, sustainability, Artificial Intelligence and Insurance regulation.

**Team**

Kennedys Corporate Affairs team is an advisory team drawn from law, business, academia and government. It partners with our lawyers and our clients to demonstrate leadership and ownership of business critical issues, in order to facilitate business growth and resilience, and protect reputation.

The team examines emerging business risks, as well as the impact of legal and political shifts on the international business environment, providing valuable insights into the risk landscape for insurance clients, as well as a broader range of stakeholders.

Key features of the team include thought leadership and the creation of market reports for clients. This involves turning insights into strong and compelling content for multiple formats and across all marketing channels in order to drive business development. Implicit in that function is curating, managing and leveraging a pipeline of content-led activity.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Developing and managing strategic and creative public affairs campaigns.
- Helping to develop Kennedys' external presence and connectivity.
- Analysing threats and opportunities, and working with our Corporate Affairs team and internal stakeholders to assess impact, prioritise issues and develop best in class advocacy strategies.
- Building a network of trusted relationships across UK government and in the policy and strategy teams at relevant Regulators and other stakeholders, such as industry bodies.
- Developing junior members of staff.
- Engaging in other jurisdictions - following need or your own passions.

**Required experience**
- Strong organisational skills with a focus in high quality delivery.
- 2+ years' experience in developing or influencing government or regulatory policy.
- Strong understanding of the difference between good politics and good policy; how policymakers think and how best to engage with them in order to advocate for good outcomes.
- Passion for technology and insurance policy.
- An ability to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with diverse teams and across stakeholders of varying seniority.
- A "get up and go" and proactive attitude.
- Excellent written and communication skills and an ability to deliver a message succinctly, ideally using data and not words.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven management skills with the desire to be a "team player" and manage others.
- An ability to work independently and with changing priorities.
- To be comfortable and literate in using tech software to manage work streams.
