**About us**
St. Hilda’s is Shoreditch charity with a 130-year history of supporting the local community. The core of the charity is a community centre with a hall, offices and social spaces which are used by the charity’s many projects and are let out to the public.
**About the Role**
Based at the main entrance of the St Hilda’s East Community Centre in Shoreditch, the role of Receptionist is varied and supports multiple aspects of the centre’s operation.
**Reporting To**: Head of Operations
**Workplace**: St Hilda’s East Community Centre
**Salary**: £24,000 per annum
**Annual Leave**: 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays
**Hours**: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
Tasks/Responsibilities
- Acts as an ambassador for St Hilda’s East by providing a friendly welcome to all visitors, staff and tenants.
- Ensures that all visitors are signed in before directing them into the building.
- Controls access to the building by ensuring all visitors are signed in / out and directed to the appropriate area.
- Issues visitor passes and ensures they are returned on departure
- Acts as the information hub for the building
- Provides admin support to the Director
- Provides admin support in the areas of HR and Facilities
- Answers phones and directs incoming calls accordingly
- Takes enquiries and bookings for lettings/events
- Responsible for receiving incoming mail and packages
- General office tasks including, scanning, photocopying and filing.
- Manages reception area, ensuring that it is kept clean and tidy at all times
- Opens up the building on office workdays
**Essential skills/attributes**
- Previous experience in an admin role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand colleague and client needs and priorities
- A good team player, able to effectively coordinate with colleagues
- Commitment to delivering a high standard of service to clients/partners
- Ability to manage own time and work under pressure
- Ability to prioritise tasks in an organised manner
**Desirable Skills and Abilities**
- Bengali language skills but this is not essential
- Understanding the needs of the local community
- Background in customer service desirable but not essential
