**Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery, 12 months Fixed Term contract (vacant now)**

**Based at University Hospital Hairmyres, Lanarkshire.**

This post is a fantastic opportunity to join the South West Scotland Vascular Network (SWSN) centralised at University Hospital Hairmyres covering the populations of NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Dumfries and Galloway. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to vascular and endovascular surgery in a major high volume expanding unit serving a population of 1.2 million offering the full remit of vascular surgery in one of the largest vascular centres in Scotland. Considerable investment and additional infrastructure is in place to support the SWSVN including a new state of the art hybrid endovascular operating theatre and new interventional radiology suite to compliment the surgical facilities already available. The procedures delivered include EVAR, FEVAR, TEVAR, CERAB, deep venous interventions, open aortic and carotid surgery, lower limb revascularisation and renal access with support provided by the vascular laboratory staffed by vascular scientists.

Although the successful applicant will be based in University Hospital Hairmyres, they may also be allocated sessional commitments to clinics, day case theatre and other elective vascular activities in either NHS Ayrshire and Arran; University Hospital Crosshouse (20 minutes by car from Hairmyres), University Hospital Ayr (34 miles and 40 minutes by car from Hairmyres)

The emphasis will be on contributing to an already strong team structure to support all aspects of the SWSVN. There is a large team of enthusiastic vascular and endovascular surgeons with an excellent reputation for innovation and adopting modern open and endovascular techniques. There are strong relationships and co-working between interventional radiology and the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop an endovascular practice if inclined. There are also opportunities to pursue professional interests in education, management and research. The multidisciplinary team includes 11 vascular surgery consultants posts, 6 middle grade members of vascular surgical staff, 2 junior doctors, 2 vascular nurse specialists, a vascular physician associate and fantastic allied health professional support from physiotherapy, occupational therapy and podiatry.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration with a license to practice and have at least four years full time post postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis). At least two of which will be in a specialty training program in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty or shall have equivalent experience **_NHS _**and competencies. Applicants should also possess the MRCS (or equivalent) and have experience at middle grade/senior middle grade level in general surgery.

**In order to be considered for the post applicants must hold a Full UK driving license, as on-calls cover a large geographic area.**
