**About the role**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sense within the Employment team as we deliver our employment programme to people with disabilities looking for employment in Birmingham. This role is a two year fixed term contract based at Sense Touchbase Pears in Selly Oak, Birmingham, working 37.5 hours per week. This role has potential to work from home one day per week.

Disabled job seekers experience a disproportionate level of difficulty in accessing employment with statistics showing that people with disabilities are twice as likely to be unemployed in comparison to a non-disabled person. This roles aim is to deliver a service that is designed with the aspiration to break the cycle of unemployment and to reduce employment barriers experienced by disabled people. The barriers to employment are multifaceted and therefore our service is holistic and person centred with a range of interventions available. As well as:

- Increase our impact to reach over a 1000 disabled job seekers face to face within our No One Left Out of Life Strategy 2021-26 across England
- To continue to deliver our high-quality Employment programme and to expand through England, with a complimentary virtual offer,
- To promote lasting change through campaigning and advocacy.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recruit and assess people with disabilities looking to prepare for and find employment and/or volunteering opportunities.
- Support the transition from welfare to work including transfer from unemployment benefits to in-work benefits.
- Develop and deliver training to employers and recruiters on disability awareness and liaise with employers and recruiters to encourage their uptake and retention of disabled employees.
- To support the Employment National Lead with planning and promotion of the service including digital engagement and with virtual and face to face events.

**Key skills and experience**:

- Understanding of the barriers that prevent disabled people from accessing the labour market.
- Have a breadth of knowledge and awareness of the barriers experienced and the level of demand in Birmingham.
- Experience of delivering training and employment programmes. Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice and Guidance or equivalent (desirable).
- Exceptional customer service skills to be able to develop working relationships with other professionals, stakeholders, and referral pathways.
- Experience of delivering frontline support in employability services or employer engagement.
