At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.

The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.

***The role**:
As our Performance and Simulation Engineer your responsibilities will include:

- Propose, investigate, and develop solutions to address the performance limitations of the current car and deliver lap time improvements.
- Proactively support the future car development programme using the most appropriate simulation tools and methodologies to define the design targets that will deliver the fastest car over the season.
- Prototype and develop new concepts that deliver performance differentiation from our competitors in the existing simulation environment and conduct the necessary functionality and performance studies.
- Improve and develop methodologies to simulate vehicle performance for evidence-based decisions on the design of the car.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the simulation tools to improve the team’s ability to extract vehicle performance.

**What we are looking for**:

- Excellent academic background with a mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering degree (preferably masters, 2:1 minimum grade), or equivalent qualification.
- Physical understanding of the dynamics of racing cars, suspension kinematics and compliance, vertical dynamics, tyres, and aerodynamics.
- Ability to examine experimental and simulation data to support evidence-based decisions.
- Experience with optimisation problems.
- Familiar with modelling and simulation of vehicles.
- Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams, to ambitious deadlines, and under mínimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate at all levels effectively and confidently.
- Self-initiative and motivation.
- Advanced knowledge of Matlab is essential. Experience with Dymola would be an advantage.
