About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Performance and Simulation Engineer to join our Vehicle Dynamics Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the continuous car performance development programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing solutions to address performance limitations of the current car and deliver lap time improvements.
- Supporting the future car development programme using simulation tools and methodologies to define design targets that will deliver the fastest car over the season.
- Prototyping and developing new concepts that deliver performance differentiation from competitors in the existing simulation environment.
- Improving and developing methodologies to simulate vehicle performance for evidence-based decisions on car design.
- Contributing to the continuous development of simulation tools to improve the team's ability to extract vehicle performance.
Requirements:
To be successful, you will have:
- An excellent academic background with a mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering degree (preferably masters, 2:1 minimum grade), or equivalent qualification.
- A physical understanding of racing car dynamics, suspension kinematics and compliance, vertical dynamics, tyres, and aerodynamics.
- The ability to examine experimental and simulation data to support evidence-based decisions.
- Experience with optimisation problems.
- Familiarity with modelling and simulation of vehicles and its subsystems.
- The ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams, to ambitious deadlines, and under minimal supervision.
- Effective and confident communication at all levels.
- Self-initiative and motivation.
