An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Communications Officer in the centre of Wakefield.

Main duties:

- Support the planning and delivery of effective internal comms and engagement work
- Take responsibility for specific projects or ongoing areas of work and support in the development, implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of comms
- Ensure comms, employee consultation and engagement are used to identify clear priorities and drive change
- Develop, write and edit content for a range of comms channels
- Work with colleagues/managers to deliver effective internal comms and staff engagement
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of comms and campaign plans
- To participate in developing, disseminating and evaluating an ongoing employee engagement programme
- Organise employee engagement events, focus groups and networks and evaluate/report on the outcomes/findings
- Contribute to the planning/development of team plans, service plans, policies and strategies
- Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality comms campaigns
- Provide advice to colleagues at all levels of seniority on effective comms planning/delivery
- Monitor and evaluate comms and engagement activity, and incorporate the learning into future activities
- Contribute to raising the profile of the organisation by enhancing its reputation and corporate identity, strengthening and managing the brand and image
- Establish and develop meaningful working relationships, working corporately and co-operatively to ensure comms are at the forefront of innovation and change
- Contribute to developing new ways of working to improve comms activity and effectiveness
- Contribute to the response to an emergency, as part of the communicating in a crisis plan

Personal spec:

- Knowledge of effective internal comms/engagement strategies and tactics
- Understanding of the role of internal comms/engagement in a large organisation
- Understanding of how social media can support effective comms
- Understanding of marketing/comms campaigns planning/delivery techniques
- Knowledge of producing comms/marketing materials
- Knowledge of effective techniques for event planning/management
- Experience of supporting the delivery of an internal comms/engagement programme
- Experience of planning, creating and delivering effective digital comms to internal audiences
- Experience of working in a comms, marketing or staff engagement team
- Proven experience of working with colleagues and partners, at varying levels of seniority, to deliver shared objectives
- Experience of leading a project/campaign
- Experience of writing/editing publications
- Experience of measuring/evaluating the impact of comms activities
- Experience of planning staff engagement activity eg. roadshows, staff awards, front-line briefings etc
- Experience of successfully planning/delivering effective staff surveys
- Influence, persuade, and negotiate effectively with people at a range of levels in the organisation
- Able to explain complex issues and interpret complex information
- High degree of customer focus and awareness
